Santa Fe Springs Chamber Seeks Business Professionals to Mentor Local High School Students Through t

The Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce is seeking business professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of local students by serving as mentors in the YEF Sentinel Mentoring Program.
The YEF Sentinel Mentoring Program is a structured six-month mentoring initiative that runs from September 2026 through March 2027 in partnership with Santa Fe High School. The program connects business and community leaders with students to provide guidance, encouragement, and real-world insight as they prepare for college, careers, and life beyond high school.
Throughout the program, mentors and students participate in engaging activities such as Career Day, Bite of Reality, Golf N Stuff, and interactive mentoring sessions. The curriculum focuses on essential life and career skills, including:

  • Relationship Building
  • Goal Setting
  • Money Matters
  • Networking
  • Professional Communication
  • Work/Life Balance
These experiences provide students with hands-on exposure to professional environments while helping them develop confidence, interpersonal skills, and a greater understanding of career opportunities.
"Our business community has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share," said Leah Skinner, CEO of the Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce. "The YEF Sentinel Mentoring Program gives professionals the opportunity to positively influence a student's future by offering guidance, encouragement, and practical life lessons that can last a lifetime."
The Chamber is looking for individuals who:
  • Enjoy spending time with young people.
  • Are willing to be positive role models.
  • Want to help students set goals and plan for their future.
  • Believe in encouraging the next generation to succeed.
No previous mentoring experience is necessary—only a willingness to invest your time, share your experiences, and support a student's personal and professional growth.
Business professionals interested in becoming a mentor are encouraged to contact the Santa Fe Springs Chamber of Commerce (562) 944-1616 or email marie@sfschamber.com for additional information about the YEF Sentinel Mentoring Program and how to get involved.
By investing just a few hours each month, mentors can help shape confident, capable young leaders while strengthening the future workforce and the Santa Fe Springs community.
